What to Do While You Wait
- Do not force a door with a broken spring. The spring carries the door's weight. Without it the opener, or your back, is lifting the full weight of the door, often well over 100 pounds.
- Keep people and cars clear of a door that is crooked, hanging on one cable, or stuck partly open.
- Leave the red emergency release alone on an open door unless the door is propped. Released, it can drop.
- Unplug the opener if it is straining or the door is off its track, so nobody runs it by habit.
